When we arrived the Gite had no rear windows and the windows in the front had no frames, there was no stairwell, plumbing or electrics - a big, cold 'blank canvas'....
The roof was open to the tiles - no felt or insulation and the main beam was broken through in the middle....
With the help of local artisans and a craftsman friend from England, we built oak timber framing on site and put her all back together.....
Stairs went in to open up the downstairs entrance lobby....
I love 'green oak' but it ruins all my tools!!....
Claude Texier and his son (Excellent fellows!!) did all the structural stonework for us....
when he wasn't taking '40 winks' - ah well, it's rural France....
